Our first short film, Brave Little Army, made with an all-female crew, has been an official selection of 45 film festivals in 17 countries, garnering 15 awards and special mentions. Highlights include Fantasia International Film Festival, The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, Canadian Film Fest, and the Oscar-qualifying Bogotá Short Film Festival – Bogoshorts.

The second instalment of our female-driven trilogy, Brave Rebel Army, is currently in post-production with the generous support of Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts Council.

In development: feature Brave Army Redux, the third and final film. A dark thriller/revenge drama that examines gender-based violence, it has been described by a fellow screenwriter as, “if Quentin Tarantino directed Bridesmaids”. 

We’re based both in Toronto, on the ancestral and unceded territory of nations including the Anishinaabe, the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, and in South River, on the traditional hunting and fishing grounds of the Hurons, Ojibway and Algonquins, who would visit the area in the summer from their winter territory on Georgian Bay.

Made by an all-female crew and starring an all-female principal cast, BRAVE LITTLE ARMY breaks through the glass ceiling that limited films centred on preteen and teen girls that came before it like THE CRAFT (1995). It handles the stories and experiences of young girls and women with a compassionate and feminist perspective. Indeed, while watching the film, I thought to myself “I wish this film existed when I was a preteen.” However, I am thoroughly happy that it exists now.
